I really enjoyed seeing these details. The most unexpected (for me) is the gold detail above the dado rail, in the photograph after the one of the stairs. I don't think I've ever seen any detailing above a dado rail, let alone like that! And it's interesting to see that the rail itself was patterned or carved under the paintwork.
Helena – So glad you found these interesting. There was so much to see in all the houses we visited and so much that gets passed by because the photos aren't "of anything" that would fit into a traditional article. I decided that so any details were worthy of note on their own and took the liberty of running a decidedly quirky post. Much more to come!
